Din-ing & Dip-ing: The First Day of School @ MLC Senior School, Year 11

Everything got off to a new start at exactly 6.45am, when the alarm clocks of the 2 roommates rang. A new school year, new school, new country, new continent, new friends. A new life.

A quick breakfast, change of clothes and a 10 minute walk down the hill on Barkers Road later, the huge, enormous campus comprising of Kindle, the Junior School, Junior Secondary School, Middle School and Senior School loomed in view.
Finding your way to the Centenary Building of MLC was no easy feat what with the other 2000 students of the school making their way to their respective meeting points at the different buildings.

After meeting up with a Year 12 student whom I met in Orientation the previous day, we made our way down to Centenary Level 1 where the Year 12 common room was situated.
New students, both international and local, were paired off with a buddy who was in the same tutor group and year level. During tutor group session, we met our tutor, Ms Scott, who gave us the important forms that needed to be signed, the itinery for the day and most importantly, our Timetables! A considerable amount of time was spent comparing timetables with my buddy and another international student from China. Last but not least, all students were also given their lockers.(Very much larger than the ones we got in MGS, if I may add)

The day continued with a really formal and somewhat intimidating yet inspiring Senior School assembly, recess in the Krome Dining Room, lunch with my buddy's friends in the Music School building and heading to the bookroom to get an MLC Star to pin onto the uniform.

Lunch ended soon enough, with another tour around the school. House, tutor group and individual photos were also scheduled on the first day of school intinery.
My house Nevile, yes the PINK one, was the last house to take the house photo, so when Nevile was finally prompted to get the photo taken, a large number of people moved enthusiastically, despite the horrible hot weather, to the phototaking venue.

Time passed rather normally while waiting in the air-conditioned auditorium(well, one of them at least. there are quite a few audis.) Lights, cameras, FLASH!

After the individual photos were taken, students were allowed dismissed and were allowed to leave school, except for those who hadn't yet handed in their 'permission to leave early' form.

So, i happily left the audi and walked back to the Centenary Building where my locker was located, only to find that my bag was part of my very first locker travesty!

But well, that's a story for another time.
